Lior Sperandeo The Jerusalem Post

JERUSALEM POST

׳׳Sperandeo is a self-taught photo-journalist who climbed up the news corporation ladder, from the person schlepping cables to the eye behind the camera. The news channel he worked for made him an offer: create documentaries about how Israeli NGOs function during humanitarian crises.

He found himself with Israeli activists in hot spots around the world, from the 2015 Gorkha earthquake in Nepal to the refugee crisis on the Greek island of Lesvos, where thousands currently live in transit camps waiting for their appeal to be processed.׳׳

Lior Sperandeo, a 35-year-old photographer and documentary maker from Israel, is one of the visionary founders of the Shanita association.

Together with Shiri Shem-Tov, they established a humanitarian organization with a mission to provide education to underprivileged children in Uganda. They firmly believe that every boy and girl, regardless of their geographical location, deserves the fundamental right to education, free from the barriers of race, religion, and gender.׳׳

''Photographer Lior Sperandeo, 34, documents the desperate ends of the world, including that of Sudanese refugees deported from Israel and other hunger-stricken, far-flung communities.

Now he hopes to use more than his camera to help ease their plight.''

NBS UGANDA

׳׳Our mission at Shanita is more than pushing children to school. We want to provide a real chance for children facing crisis to THRIVE. and for that, it takes more than a book and a pen. It takes an entire support system which we, together with our supporters are ready to provide.
